What Makes TTT Mobility Different?

If you've been researching overseas surgery options, you've probably noticed something. At first glance, many providers can look remarkably similar. Hospitals. Surgeons. Treatment packages. Flights. Accommodation. Transfers.

And all of those things matter. But I've always believed there's a much bigger question:

What happens after the surgery?

Because getting someone to an operating theatre isn't the outcome. Getting them back to the life they want to live is. That's the philosophy TTT Mobility has been built around.

We're not simply a trip provider. We're an outcome provider.

And that difference shapes everything we do.

Surgery Is a Milestone. The start of your Journey. Not the Finish Line.

Joint replacement surgery can be life-changing. But surgery itself creates the opportunity for change. What happens afterwards matters enormously. Recovery. Rehabilitation. Strength. Balance. Confidence. Consistency. Returning to everyday life. And eventually, returning to the things you couldn't do because pain had taken them away.

That's why I don't see a successful TTT journey as: New Zealand → India → Surgery → Home → Done.

For us, surgery sits within a much longer pathway.

Preparation → Treatment → Recovery → Rebuilding → Reclaiming your life.

That's a very different way of looking at medical travel.

We Focus on Outcomes, Not Transactions

A knee replacement isn't really the product. Neither is a hip replacement. Because nobody wakes up one morning thinking: I'd really love a new artificial joint. They want what that joint might allow them to do again. Walk without constantly thinking about pain. Travel. Play golf. Garden. Get down on the floor with the grandchildren… and hopefully get back up again. Feel confident going somewhere without first calculating how far they'll have to walk. Regain independence.

Get their life back.

That's the outcome we're working towards. And when you start with the outcome rather than the operation, you build a very different pathway around the person.

The Journey Begins Before Surgery

One of the biggest differences in the TTT approach is that we don't wait until surgery has happened before we start thinking about recovery. Preparation matters. Before travelling, we want clients to understand what's ahead and begin preparing themselves for the journey. That isn't only about passports, flights and what to pack. It's also about preparing for surgery and recovery.

  • What will those first few weeks look like?

  • What will you need to be able to do?

  • What can you work on beforehand?

  • What does realistic recovery look like?

Because the better you understand the journey you're about to take, the less it feels like you're stepping blindly into the unknown.

A Connected Clinical and Support Pathway

TTT also doesn't try to be everything. And I think that's important. We work alongside MediGence, our international healthcare partner, which provides the international clinical pathway and on-the-ground coordination in India through its hospital and specialist network. Hospitals, surgeons and appropriately qualified healthcare professionals remain responsible for clinical decisions and medical care.

TTT brings something different to that pathway.

The New Zealand connection - Preparation. Advocacy. Escorted support. Continuity. Recovery planning.

And longer-term support once you come home. Different areas of expertise. One connected journey.

We've Done the Journey Ourselves

This matters to me enormously. I wasn't prepared to build TTT Mobility around hospitals I'd only seen online. So before asking our clients to travel to India, we went ourselves. We met the MediGence team. We visited hospitals. We met doctors and clinical teams. We saw rehabilitation facilities. We discussed implants and surgical technology. We looked at accommodation and recovery options. We asked questions.

Lots of them!

I wanted to understand what the experience could actually look like for someone travelling from New Zealand. Because if I'm asking someone to trust this pathway for something as significant as joint replacement surgery, I want that trust to be based on more than a glossy brochure.

We've been. We've seen. And now we know.

Escorted Means Supported

Travelling halfway around the world for major surgery can feel daunting. That's why our escorted pathway isn't simply about having somebody accompanying a group on a flight. It's about creating support and continuity around the journey. You're not expected to arrive in an unfamiliar country and suddenly figure everything out yourself. You have the clinical and on-the-ground systems in India. You have TTT alongside you. And you have a small group of people undertaking their own version of the same journey. Your surgery and recovery remain individual. But you don't have to feel as though you're navigating the experience alone.

Where TTT Really Becomes Different

Perhaps the biggest difference becomes apparent after the operation. Because eventually the hospital stay ends. India ends. You get on the plane. You arrive home. And you're still recovering. This is where many traditional medical travel pathways naturally finish.

It's where TTT keeps going.

The TTT Restore Method™

I created the TTT Restore Method™ because I didn't want long-term recovery to become an afterthought. It's a structured 12-month framework that follows the recovery journey through four stages:

PROTECT
Supporting the early recovery period.
RESTORE
Regaining movement, function and confidence.
REBUILD
Developing strength, balance and physical capacity.
RECLAIM
Returning to the activities, independence and life that made surgery worthwhile in the first place.

The framework provides structure across the longer recovery journey while recognising that every person's progress and circumstances will be different. Because recovery doesn't suddenly stop when a surgical wound heals. And neither should our focus on the outcome.

More Than 30 Years Behind the Model

TTT Mobility didn't begin because I decided medical tourism looked like an interesting business opportunity. It grew out of what I'd already spent more than 30 years doing. Working with people. Movement. Exercise. Rehabilitation. Behaviour change. Confidence. Accountability. Helping people make changes that don't happen overnight.

And over those years I've worked with so many people whose lives have gradually become restricted by pain. I've watched people adapt. Stop doing things. Put things off.

Wait. And slowly accept a level of limitation they never imagined would become normal. That experience has fundamentally shaped how I see joint replacement.

The operation matters enormously.

But I'm equally interested in what you're able to do six months later. Twelve months later. What did that surgery actually give back to you?

That's What We Mean by Outcome Provider

Being an outcome provider doesn't mean we can promise a particular medical result. Nobody responsibly can. It means the outcome remains our focus throughout the pathway. We're thinking beyond getting you to surgery. Beyond the hospital discharge. Beyond the flight home. We're thinking about where this journey is supposed to take you. Back to walking. Back to travelling. Back to confidence. Back to independence. Back to the life pain has been gradually taking away.

That's why TTT Mobility is different.

We're not simply helping you travel somewhere for surgery.

We're building a supported pathway around what comes before it, what happens during it and - most importantly - what comes afterwards.

Because surgery isn't the destination. Your life is.
